spelling[edit]

The edit summary clearly indicated why the spelling should be changed but someone reverted a second time and again claimed something that is not true about the spelling used by the company itself. In addition the rude revert ignored what the MOS has to say about spelling and capitalization. It's simply incorrect to claim that www.odondevice.org uses uppercase and an accent since both it and www.odondevice.org/device.php clearly use lowercase and no accent. In any case, according to Wikipedia's manual of style, WP would do so even if the company didn't do so. --Espoo (talk) 17:27, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, but since the article title moved back currently reads as Odón Device, with the "D" capitalized, I think it's high time we change the capitalization throughout the article to make it consistent. Tinton5 (talk) 00:16, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The issues are accent and uppercase for both words. The company's home page uses the name twice with accent and with uppercase, four times without the accent and three times without the accent and without uppercase. The accent seems to be used primarily in headings, as it's probably easier to keep the format standardized, but on the other hand the non-accented version prevails and the lack of an accent makes it easier to type. In pictures of the device, the accent and uppercase are used consistently. Furthermore, this source from The New York Times spells it as "Odón Device" (with accent, with uppercase) all three times that the name is used. It is a proper name -- either as "Odón Device" or "Odon Device" -- and the prevailing usage by the company itself is to capitalize both words. I think that the cases for "Odón Device" (with the accent) and "Odon Device" (without an accent) are the best-supported spelling. I think that the status quo of "Odón Device" is justified but I could see a consensus on "Odon Device" being formed here. Any thoughts from the participants? Noticed that source # 2 refers to it as the Odón device, where the "d" stays uncapitalized. I made the article formatting consistent, however. The same footnote has the parameter "access date" which currently says "Retrieved November XX, 2013", while the other footnotes which were not used with reference templates use "Accessed November XX, 2013". Not a huge deal, but thought I would bring it up. Other than that, it is a very interesting article topic. Tinton5 (talk) 05:24, 24 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Advertising[edit]

I have removed the phrase "low-cost" from the copy, however, I could not find anything else that seemed like advertising copy. Can consider removal of the template. ArchiveAnimal (talk) 18:43, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
