GA review (see here for criteria)

  1. It is reasonably well written.
a (prose): b (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):
Article needs a lead. Although there are introductory paragraphs, they cover new material rather than summarize what is below. For example, the yarn bomb quote should be moved to the body of the article.
"First using crocheting as part of her art in 2003, and crocheted the windows of a burned-out, abandoned building near her 2005 residency in Utica, New York.[10]" - sentence needs a subject and verb.
I've done a complete overhaul of that part: it was implying the windows were her first project, but she did student work before then. Working on that now.
"was inspired "by a uniformed attendant holding the sign Hold the Handrail in a Taipei metro station".[14] Performers held placards of signs found by the artist, that were "emphatic, ironic or amused dialogue with their location."[13]"->"was inspired "by a uniformed attendant holding a "Hold the Handrail" sign in a Taipei metro station".[14] Performers held placards based on signs found by the artist, that were "emphatic, ironic or amused dialogue with their location."[13]"
    Changed.
"ripped off" can mean stolen. The cnnmoney site says it was removed by the caretaker of the park. Perhaps you can find different words?
    Clarified.
Exhibit dates are Aug 10 — Aug 27, 2011 so can we say "August 2011"?
    Pardon?
"A 2011 solo show will be held at Jonathan LeVine Gallery.[26]"->"A solo show will be held at Jonathan LeVine Gallery in August 2011.[26]"
    Cool, thanks.
  2. Is it factually accurate and verifiable?
    A. References to sources:
As noted above fn 2 needs repair.
Fixed, there was a space in the URL.
    Fn 6, 7 and 24 are bare URLs. I suggest using {{cite web}}.
    B. Citation of reliable sources where necessary:
"Olek has exhibiting in the United States, Brazil, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Turkey. " - needs footnote
    C. No original research:
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
What is her educational background? Discuss it in the prose and not just the infobox.
    Expanded a bit.
Please summarize any critical reception of her work.
Despite the fact she's going to exhibit at the Smithsonian, I can't find any critical reviews of her work. The only commentary on her work seems to come from reporters who don't specialize in art critique.
Has she written about her motivation or conception of her work?
The closest to that seems to be the 2009 quote, can't find anything else comparable.
What medium did she use prior to 2003?
I can find mention of her prof liking her student work that involved crochet, but nothing about her other works, aside from what's on her official website.
When did she immigrate from Poland to the United States?
Can't find any sources for that. If I tweeted her, and she replied, could I cite her tweet?
You could forward it to OTRS. However, it is a non-controversial fact that does not require a cite to a secondary source.
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
    No edit wars.
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:
I am placing the article on hold so that you may address the above noted concerns. Racepacket (talk) 12:49, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

January 8 reading[edit]

We are almost done:

  • Technically, the lead should only contain facts that are included elsewhere in the article. Please consider moving the "Her creative philosophy is that "Life and art are inseparable."[10]" to the Career section, and then summarize her entire creative philosophy in one or two sentences in the lead.
  • Please fix the [citation needed] in the second paragraph of the "Career" section.
  • I would make the title in fn 23 upper and lower case.

Thank you for your hard work on this article. Racepacket (talk) 02:20, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

I'm really sorry for stalling on this, I didn't realize how much of the subject I hadn't explored, before submitting the article for review. In trying to find the most definitive explanation of her first works using crocheting, to solve the citation needed tag that I had placed on the fact, I found one page that lead to another, including complex artist statements that would require me attending a fine arts university program to be able to condense.
To try and reference some of the things highlighted in her early biographies is impossible. One of the events, a festival in Philadelphia, I really can't find any reliable references to it existing. Obviously, I've left it out. Anyway, here's my updates and expansions. -- Zanimum (talk) 00:53, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for improving the article. Congratulations. Racepacket (talk) 07:59, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

Thank you so much for your guidance, and patience with my delays. This is my first GAN ever, despite being on Wikipedia since 2002, and it was an interesting process. -- Zanimum (talk) 02:12, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
