SOMEBODY NEED TO CORRECT THIS PAGE, IT IS HISTORICALLY 100% INACCURATE. DESERT SHIELD BEGAN IN 1990, NOT 2006. IT WAS A US LED COALITION TO DEFEND SAUDI ARABIA, THEN CAME DESERT STORM WHEN THE COALITION DEFEATED THE IRAQI'S AND FREED KUWAIT. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:C2:4100:8E2E:981A:A45A:5A55:C97B (talk) 21:49, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The confusion is because this article is about a 2006 AL-QAEDA military operation that was directed against the United States, that we only found out about only after we captured Al Qaeda documents. Apparently, Al Qaeda for some reason decided to use the same name as the earlier (1990–91) American military operation. - Embram (talk) 01:54, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

What is this load of crap. Operation Desert Shield was a US operation and what the hell does al-Qaeda have to do with Iraq? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.198.38.92 (talk) 01:34, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
