PPGI stands for pre-painted galvanised iron.
It is an extension of the term GI which refers to galvanised iron, although steel substrates have been used for many decades rather than iron. In industry GI typically only applies to essentially pure (>99%) zinc metallic coated steel produced via hot dip galvanising processes as opposed to electro galvanising (EG).
GI is generally not used for other metallic coatings such as aluminium or alloy coatings of aluminium/zinc, zinc/iron, aluminium/zinc/magnesium.
Therefore, PPGI is in practice today is actually pre-painted hot dip zinc coated(galvanised)steel.
PPGI is typically produced in sheet or coil form on continuous paint lines, which is often formed into building products such as roof sheets or gutters.
