Talk:Pakistan at the 2006 Winter Olympics
Appearance
Evidently the athletes won't go - see [1]. So I suppose that's the end of this page? Sam Vimes 20:47, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
- If so, I guess the next thing would be to find out why they didn't attend, and maybe merge into Non-competing nations at the 2006 Winter Olympics? Andjam 12:50, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
- Yep, I think merging and redirecting would be a clever move (that way people who are used to the convention and type in <xxx> at the 2006 Winter Olympics can find info.) I think the reason they didn't participate was that they didn't meet IOC qualifying demands - an athlete needed less than 140 FIS points to qualify (if he was the only one from his nation) and Muhammad and Waseem Abbas had 154.95 and 204.02 respectively [2]. - I can't remember how many pages went through the AfD process - I think it was Mexico and Morocco - and there was no consensus to delete. I've changed this article to reflect that the two athletes didn't go to the Games. Sue Anne 05:29, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
- No consensus to delete doesn't preclude a merge and redirect. Which I think would be more useful in this case - list all the IOC members who didn't compete, add some info about which of them have competed before, and the reason why selected athletes didn't compete. But that's just my personal opinion Sam Vimes 08:30, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
- I misspoke. It was more than just a "no consensus to delete", but a strong consensus to keep. It was quite a consensus to keep. The Pakistan and Peru pages were mentioned during the debate. I didn't vote because I don't have a strong feeling either way, but the consensus is to keep. Sue Anne 03:52, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
