Move
[edit]I think this should be moved to Paravane due to the inclusion of non-weapon topics.--Dj245 16:57, 5 July 2007 (UTC)4
I support this suggestion : move to Paravane and drop the (Weapon), which btw the mentioned Paravane isn't. It's a military equipment, ok, but not really a weapon. Demining devices are'nt weapons strico sensu (Goulu (talk) 15:02, 14 January 2008 (UTC)).
- How is this still a discussion, twelve years on - no, nearly fifteen years on. Let's get these two articles merged and then we can address the numerous issues which the existing content of this (really redundant) article raises. Not least in terms of confusing the issue of whether or not the PV was explosive - and most weren't, so this is a poor-quality article as it stands. Really, let's get rid of it. 2A00:23C7:3119:AD01:D8C3:8F66:3B45:1F4D (talk) 21:39, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
I also suggest removing "Sailboats do not need paravanes since the wind pushes them on their side and keeps them from rolling." which is wrong for 2 reasons :
- sailboats precisely have to compensate the wind push by some other force
- paravanes are considered for high speed sailboats. check [[1]] for an example

Effectiveness
[edit]The article needs to contain more than a simple description - it needs to cover how widely paravanes were used and what their effectiveness was. Deipnosophista (talk) 20:52, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
