I've just edited out what was obviously PR material of the stupidest kind: it wasn't just full of glowing adjectives and brand building irrelevancies, it was completely unsourced. If this is attempted again, I'll ask for Penhaligon's page to be deleted. 14:18, 15 March 2008 (UTC)Umptious (talk) 14:19, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Quote from Matt Cook
[edit]I am wondering whether this page would lose anything important if this phrase with its quote: "an important homosocial space in the 'inner sanctum of the masculine city'" were omitted from the paragraph. It doesn't add anything to Penhaligon's and, though this might seem pedantic, it's problematic for a number of reasons. First, it looks as though 'inner sanctum of the masculine city' is a quote from Matt Cook, whereas he is actually "quoting" the phrase from Roy Porter, except that Porter says something slightly dfferent. Further, Cook's sentence, in which the inner sanctum reference is made, goes on to claim something appearing in another book, which is also not the case. Don't get me wrong, Cook's book was an important well-received gamechanger and heaven knows we all make minor slips. But does anyone object if I remove the phrase in due course?Ishpoloni (talk) 23:08, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
