IS PeopleTools an IDE?[edit]

Outdated Information[edit]

Full disclosure: I work for Oracle/PeopleTools. Some of the content in this article is outdated (see reference to 2006), and I would like to propose a major edit as follows: leave the first sentence, strike the second and third, and add more recent, relevant content. Here is the proposed content for the page:

According to Oracle, the latest version of PeopleTools, PeopleTools 8.50, offers a highly-flexible development environment for customers to manage, customize, integrate and support their PeopleSoft applications. This latest update features an enriched end user experience through the use of new Web 2.0 capabilities, enhanced integration and expanded reporting options. PeopleTools 8.50 is the foundation for PeopleSoft 9.1 applications but is also backward-compatible for older releases, increasing the value of customers’ current versions without requiring an upgrade of their core applications.

PeopleTools falls under the Oracle “Applications Unlimited” program. Applications Unlimited is Oracle's plan to continue enhancing its current applications product lines while simultaneously developing its next-generation Fusion Applications. The Applications Unlimited program was created to give customers more visibility into product roadmaps, more choice in determining their future application plans, and more value from their existing application developments.

Your suggestion sounds rather un-encyclopedic; more like you're writing copy for a radio ad. This is better I think: "The latest version of PeopleTools is 8.50 and it was released on date. Oracle is attempting to enrich the end-user's experience by adapting use of Web 2.0 capabilities. [You may want to list specific new features here; please avoid just saying things are "enhanced" or "increase value".]. PeopleTools 8.50 is designed to be fully backwards-compatible. Oracle has put the PeopleTools product under its "Applications Unlimited" program, which allows ongoing enhancements couple with simultaneous development the Oracle Fusion applications.
