again, "published in" (1857), not composed in. We lack sufficient information - manuscripts, anything else - to say when the set of etudes Op.39, published in 1857 and of which his piano symphony forms nos.4-7, was composed besides the obvious fact that it was no later than 1857... Earliest piano symphony[edit]

Then again, an earlier "Nouvelle symphonie pour piano-forte" by Mascarelly is listed as having been published in 1830, publisher not specified precisely ("tous les marchands du musique", Marseille) in the French National Bibliography, 4 September 1830, p.600.
