Maderna performance
[edit]Re the tag attached to the Maderna performance: "Citation needed|date=April 2014 !--The Maderna recording (on Stradivarius STR 10044) is timed at 15:39, while the Rosbaud (multiple releases, first on DG and later mainly on Col Legno) is about 16:21. If the former is just the first movement, either the second and third movements are extremely short, or Maderna takes the music at less than half of Rosbaud's tempo.-->"
I've done a quick comparison of the two recordings and I think Maderna is Part One only - and (as suggested above) taken at less than half of Rosbaud's tempo! To my ears, the end of Maderna sounds like the passage leading up to 7'25" in Rosbaud, greatly slowed down. There is also a pause after it in Rosbaud which seems to mark the end of a section. Anyone care to check and see if I'm right? Not sure how to cite this. The fact of the performance (but not its precise date or its partial nature) is recorded in a footnote in: Nielinger-Varkil, Carola (2016). Luigi Nono: A Composer in Context.
