Attempts to redefining the lexical definition of racism as Prejudice plus power has been criticized by linguists as violating the rules of how words are defined

This article lacks the objection to the argument that Racism=Prejudice plus power expressed by some linguists, who argue advocates definition is not a generally excepted definition currently, excludes the reality that many words have multiple meanings (or closely related but notable differences) and that advocates for this stipulative definition are trying to make a lexical definition without going through the usual process. --108.239.8.149 (talk) 04:48, 22 March 2019 (UTC)

To be fair, the prejudice + power definition gets at the structural definition of racism, and since this is a sociology stub, making sure to include this dimension makes sense--regardless of whether most non-sociologists agree with it (and this may be because these people are not accustomed to looking at society from a structural perspective, and not just a symbolic/ideological one). I also feel the last sentence of this stub should be removed, as this is an unsubstantiated opinion; please cite a source or do not include it. --Caitlinlenox (talk) 01:11, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
