Removal of almost everyone

[edit]

My apologies to the article creators, but I had to remove all but 2 people because of WP:BLP concerns. Our policy on biographical information of living people is a very strong an core policy of Wikipedia. It states that anything that is possibly contentious about a living person must be backed up by a highly reliable source; if it is not, policy says that it must be removed. This protects both Wikipedia and the living people involved. In this case, we are talking about support for a particular law which is not universally approved of, and support of which may have consequences for those living people publicly supporting it. Thus, we must provide a reliable source for anyone who is to appear on this list. I left in the one sourced filmmaker, and Hazare, since a quick glance at his bio and the main page for this Bill make it abundantly clear he supports it; actually, though, when I think about it, just to be safe, I'll move over one of those references to here for full in text verification.

So, I know that there's basically nothing left of this article. But please do not, under any circumstances, add any person to this article without a high quality reference. That means no blogs, no social networking sites, no tabloids...only top tier newspapers, news shows, or the equivalent. Qwyrxian (talk) 06:20, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who's adding the sourced entries. I did feel bad removing the unsourced info, but felt it necessary. At some point, the references should be filled out using a "cite news" template; I'll try to get to that at some point if I remember. Qwyrxian (talk) 22:57, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

First, there is no deletion discussion open, so no need to line up one way or the other. Logicwiki, if you think this shouldn't be a stand alone article, you should follow the procedures for discussed in Wikipedia:Proposed mergers. I would agree that this should almost certainly be merged unless the list grows to be exceptionally long (which it is not, right now). Qwyrxian (talk) 11:56, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The contenct should be transferred to Jan Lokpal Bill .Shyamsunder (talk) 00:13, 10 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

REDIRECT: The content should be transferred to 2011 Indian anti-corruption movement. Also, MaheshKumarYadav, you cannot strong keep your own article, at most you could have added the hang on tag. JustinSpringer (talk) 07:22, 12 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
