Academy Format only or Cinemascope as well?[edit]

Is it a fact that this short was produced in both academy format AND cinemascope? I have compared the European DVD (which features the academy version) and the US DVD (which features a (!) widescreen version) and it seems that there is no frame where there is something missing in the academy version, but instead it seems that the widescreen version from the US-DVDs has simply been cropped from the original academy version. Additionally, none of the shorts that has indeed been produced in both cinemascope and academy format is included in the academy format on the European set but the pan & scan versions are used instead, which would make this short strangely special. Moreover, the title card fits perfectly, which is unusual as on real cinemascope the card is usually too wide even for a 16:9 screen.

I am pretty certain that this particular short was not produced in cinemascope at all. Anyone please clarify, at best with pictures comparing both versions (as is done with some of the other cartoons).
