Purolator Courier Manufactures Oil filters??[edit]

It states in the article on Purolator Courier that it was originally called "Trans Canada Courier", was bought in 1967 by the (American) Purolator Company - the manufacturer of oil and air filters - then returned to Canadian ownership in 1987, retaining the name Purolator, but having nothing to do with the US company of the same name or the oil filter business. It's way worse than that. The corporate family tree for the name "Purolator" is very tangled--in essence, every company that bought a piece of a company that was formerly part of the Purolator family has retained the name (presumably for greater brand recognition). There are about a dozen different "Purolator" companies, about a third of which are actually related nowadays. This disambiguation page should probably grow into a page detailing this history, but that's going to take some work. Tlesher 18:19, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've added the appropriate top-of-article template to indicate that this article needs expansion. There should be a history that makes some sense of the various companies, some related in products or services, some unrelated. David spector (talk) 00:24, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
