Europa may support life?
[edit]I removed the following from this article, because life on Europa isn't really relevant to the topic of the Pwyll impact crater:
"Galileo's instruments have uncovered substantial evidence that water in liquid form exists below Europa's icy surface. If Europa has a subsurface ocean, it might also contain life." Tennesseellum (talk) 21:14, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
- I restored the text, with citations. NASA (see the quoted APOD text) thinks Pwyll crater is evidence for a specialist hypothesis that Europa may be habitable for some form of life. NASA and ESA have planned probes for possible habitability of Europa based on multiple indications of the a subsurface water sea. Though I don't completely buy the hypothesis, that certainly makes the removed text part of the Pwyll topic.
Apart from that, one of the problems with holding on to WP editors is having text deleted right after someone takes the trouble to start an article. It discourages both new articles and new editors. Hair-splitting can and should wait for the article to get out of the stub-stage. Further research might have led you, as it did me, to add citations instead. Twang (talk) 11:22, 15 December 2012 (UTC)- [...] Pwyll crater is evidence for a specialist hypothesis that Europa may be habitable for some form of life - the cited page does not support the idea that Pwyll is in any way important for the theory of Europa's oceans, and neither does the text that has been written for this WP article demonstrate this. Information about why Europa is thought have a subsurface ocean is found at Europa (moon)#Subsurface ocean, and it does not mention Pwyll once.
- Unless a source that ties Pwyll to Europa's internal oceans is provided, this information needs to go. Without that, it does not belong here any more than information on Earth's mantle belongs in the article on Meteor Crater. --Njardarlogar (talk) 14:59, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
Age
[edit]Text says this crater is one of the youngest features, so what is the estimated age? Fig (talk) 10:59, 25 July 2015 (UTC)
