Merge?
[edit]with Rail Integration System. They seem to be pretty identical articles — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cpiebtanz (talk • contribs) 20:57, 22 May 2016 (UTC)
- No, this should not be merge with Rail Integration System, The basic standard wikipedia behavior will happen, the information will be compressed and stripped from the merge article making the need for an article again on firearm rails and the types. To compare, should an article for Chevy, Ford, Toyota, be merged into vehicle/cars/automobile? Or should engines be merged into their vehicle such as Aircraft_engine being merged in Aircraft, which they arenot, they actual go to their farther detailed and specif pages. The example if you want more minute, of Fender_(vehicle) is not merged as a part into Automobile , Motorcycle ,etc. Plenty of examples and rail systems and rail integrated systems are expanding in technology. Deleting pages is one of the worse behaviors I've seen with Wikipedia editors. A lone orphan page storage and bandwidth use is of no real burden and resource for someone looking for the detailed information. 2602:306:CE27:DC90:3DFA:E65B:704A:4C7E (talk) 10:39, 1 October 2017 (UTC)
Are they same?
[edit]Picatinny Rail, are these 2 articles talking about the same thing? See this link, meaning and functions is quite the same https://www.brownells.com/.aspx/lid=10724/GunTechdetail/Picatinny_Rails__Weaver_Rails__What_s_The_Difference_ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Prof.Marlin (talk • contribs) 14:44, 24 June 2017 (UTC)
No they're different. The source you cited even explains the confusion and how one can be used on the other but reverse the types and the mounting hardware will not work. As this Article has undergone massive edits you should see the differences now. MIL-STD-1913 rail commonly called Picatinny is a latter derivative (or division from) of the Weaver rail system. This is confusing amongst gun owners and gun store employees in chain stores especially. Add in there are two newer systems competing which both have bolt on Picatinny rail sections and it becomes even more confusing. Imagine, So is the rifle I buying going to need Keymod or Mlock 1913 rails pieces and which lengths?.... Complex and evolving standards with lots of hardware to keep old standards in place. 2602:306:CE27:DC90:7112:C064:3A01:4E5B (talk) 05:39, 5 October 2017 (UTC)
Massive edits from stub September 2017
[edit]Added additional information and images for multiple rails types and in basic order of development. Working on building the article. No, this should not be merge with Rail Integration System. I will need help adding citations correctly which can all be found from wikipedia article links for terms used to describe items.Explanations may need better grammar for clarity of example.
Each type of rail is being linked to its page, images added, along with added information of various types of rails and the combining of of types. Bare with me as I edit more into the article. This stub needed improvement and details a long time ago.

[edit]The old, This article needs additional citations for verification. Please help improve this article by adding citations to reliable sources. Unsourced material may be challenged and removed.
Needs to be removed, this article has been improved and repair several times over from the wikimedia deletionists destroying pages, citations have been added.... God forbid a non account holder dares do anything as "Be Bold" and fix that. 2600:1702:1590:9A30:F903:6E9F:1BF8:8AF (talk) 04:56, 30 July 2019 (UTC)
