How to deal with broken links?

[edit]

i just noticed that the external link "Rasterschlüssel 44 on Interesting Ciphers" is dead. What can be done to improve this? Thanks and sorry for asking such questions (as i am new to Wikipedia). Cryptocollector (talk) 23:16, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Cryptocollector, have a look at WP:DEADLINK on what to do with dead links. Another user has added a link to an archived version of the broken link in the meantime. – NJD-DE (talk) 11:04, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

British origin.

[edit]

Dirk Rijmenants website, which is currently an external link to the Wikipedia article, states that the R44 was developed from, and is very similar to, a British cipher used in North Africa and captured by the AfriKa Korps. I have not attempted to verify this. Worth mentioning?
