Deletion[edit]

Not sure if the speedy deletion is still in place, if not please remove the hangon tag.

While I have a clear interest in the company, if there are issues with this or other related articles I'd like to remedy those issues, by establising significance/relevance etc, rather than have the page(s) deleted.

Kindest regards, Mark

As the user who originally created this clearly notable article (see this version before this whole crazieness) I do not see how this whole ****up happened. Somebody merged some stuff over and onto this article incorrectly, wiping out my whole work. If it hadn' been restored by now, I would have done so. Ingolfson 00:23, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed page move and content rework[edit]

I propose a rework of this page, and to move to new page: Wayfare - this is the name of the holding company that owns 100% of Real Journeys, Go Orange, and the Cardrona skifield and the International Antarctic Centre. See: https://www.wayfare.nz/

A re-direct would be created from Real Journeys to Wayfare. The rework of content will aim to remove (or at least significantly reduce) the promotional content and reduce the reliance on primary sources. Some useful independent sources I have found already include:

After preparing initial draft content about the holding company Wayfare, I now think it is best to leave an article Real Journeys, but prune it back so that it focusses on the current activities (without promotional content), and describe the history of acquisitions of the company mostly in the Wayfare article. This would be consistent with retaining the separate pages for TSS Earnslaw, the Te Ana-au Caves and the International Antarctic Centre. Marshelec (talk) 06:53, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
A new article is now available for the Wayfare Group. Next steps are to purge the Real Journey's page of content that is now covered in the new article, and reduce the promotional language to make it more encyclopedic. Marshelec (talk) 02:45, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Establishment of RealNZ article and merger of content[edit]

Events have overtaken me, because the parent company has rebranded and absorbed the Real Journeys and some other brands into RealNZ. See: [1]. I will now consider best options from here, including this page, and the Wayfare Group page. Marshelec (talk) 05:41, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I now propose to review the contents of this page, and then merge it into the article about the parent organisation, currently Wayfare Group but I would move it to RealNZ before I do the merger. I propose that the Real Journeys page would be only a redirect once I have merged the content. Comments please. Marshelec (talk) 07:39, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
There was no feedback, so I am proceeding with the proposal. The article RealNZ is now in place and I will progressively copy appropriate content from here into that article. If there is no other feedback, I will eventually remove all content from this page, and turn it into a re-direct to RealNZ. Marshelec (talk) 05:41, 27 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Progress update. Content from the following sections of this article have been copied/ reworked and added to the moved page RealNZ:
  • History
  • Vintage steamship
  • Conservation
  • Awards
The section on Air tourism needs independent sources, but these are hard to find online. So far, I have this: [2]. Propose to summarise into a brief section in history, since it appears RealNZ now only books flights, rather than operate services.
