A fascinating book with its story of the coming of the europeans. I was expecting the narrative to be even more critical of colonialism but Huxley takes a generous view of many of the individuals concerned. I found her verdict on Christianity to be far more severe, with the replacement of one set of superstitions with another set, less suited to the society and environment.
