English names

[edit]

In my mind, the only authoritative source on official English names for these regions is Statistics Iceland, they use the names:

  • Capital region
  • Southwest
  • West
  • Westfjords
  • Northwest
  • Northeast
  • East
  • South

I propose using these on Wikipedia rather than the current names that are unofficial translations by users. For disambiguation I also propose adding "region" with a lower-case R to the names and Iceland in parentheses if necessary. --Bjarki (talk) 09:33, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
