Species Count

The article has this ambiguous sentence: This genus was thought to contain five different species, but recent studies on molecular data revealed that the species Glyphis gangeticus has an irregular distribution in the Indo-West Pacific region. It's worded to suggest that the number of species may be wrong, do to the "irregular distribution" of one species, but it's not clear if that means there are more species or fewer species.
