I'm no wireless expert, but my dad was the senior MI6/SIS officer responsible for all intelligence operations in NW Europe at the time. It was my understanding that S-phones were first deployed for his SUSSEX operation in 1944 and that the French BCRA and US OSS did not know about the development in advance and the Americans in particular were blind-sided. Is there any evidence of prior deployment?

I've since seen a reference to the S-phone in Secret flotilas the official history of secret maritime activities and written by a friend of my father.
