Attestation by Claudian

[edit]

Someone who is more adept at editing than I am may wish to add the information that the Roman poet Claudian may also attest this event, claiming it as a portent of the elevation of Honorius to the rank of Augustus (Jan. 23, 393). He talks of a star that could be seen at midday and compares its brightness to Bootes (Arcturus)? See "On the Fourth Consulship of Honorius", ll. 171-188, p. 298 in the first volume of the Loeb edition. See also http://iopscience.iop.org/1538-3881/143/2/27/article.
