- Yes. HPUX had this feature at least in 1990 as a basic part of their HA package called Serviceguard. See http://h30507.www3.hp.com/t5/Mission-Critical-Computing-Blog/21st-Birthday-of-HP-Serviceguard-Brings-Integration-Advances-for/ba-p/98443 (viewed 18 Feb 2014). Thus the idea that Linux-HA first implemented it in 1999 is demonstrably incorrect.
