1. Is it reasonably well written?

   A. Prose quality:

   Once I account for the differences in British English vs. Canadian, the prose seems straight forward, and the points easy to understand.

   As a person mostly unfamiliar with how English football works, I am confused as to how Manchester City could both reach the FA Cup final and be relegated in 1925-26. It seems odd that a team with such success in a tournament could still fall to a lower level. Could this be clarified?

   The article asserts that Cowan died while refereeing a match. I think that should be explained a little more. At the very least noting that he died of a heart attack while officiating the match.

   There is very little about his personal life beyond his post-playing and managing career. Are there sources to indicated if he married, had children, etc?

• I've added his cause of death. Unfortunately my own sources, don't cover anything else in his personal life. I'll leave that, and re-wording Manchester City's success/failure to Oldelpaso. Peanut4 (talk) 23:24, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

• The league is completely separate to cup competitions, results in one competition have no bearing upon the others. It is difficult to mention this without being patronising to those familiar with non-franchise based sport. Promotion and relegation is already linked in the sentence, and I can't see a way to shoehorn Football in England or English football league system.
• I have almost nothing about his personal life. From my sources I can glean that he did marry, but do not know when or the name of his wife, and that he had at least one child (a son), but not whether he had any more children. "The Official Manchester City Hall of Fame" mentions that his Hall of Fame award was collected by his only living descendant, a granddaughter. The only book I know of which might have more is "The Legends of Manchester City", which has an A4 page about him, but his entry in "The Maine Road Encyclopedia", another book by the same author on the same topic, contains no information about his personal life, suggesting that it will not. Library access to Newsbank doesn't go back to 1964 for any newspapers in Manchester or Brighton, so I haven't been able to find an obituary. Oldelpaso (talk) 15:52, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
