Breadth of article
[edit]The definition quoted would seem to suggest that sanitation workers include restroom attendants, and indeed anyone who cleans any toilet. That would link to commercial cleaning, maid, etc. How best to include these? Carbon Caryatid (talk) 12:34, 10 March 2020 (UTC)
- Good question, User talk:Carbon Caryatid. Should we include a bullet point list in the section on "related occupations"? A table is another option, I'll try that next. EMsmile (talk) 12:54, 10 March 2020 (UTC)
- I have added a table now but it needs more work. Also I would like to say "based on reference 1 but with additions" but how would I best state that in the table caption? EMsmile (talk) 13:14, 10 March 2020 (UTC)
- The table looks good. I'm not sure what you're asking about the caption? Carbon Caryatid (talk) 17:51, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- The way the caption is currently worded it sounds like the entire table comes from that reference. In reality, I used that reference as a starting point but I have modified the table since then. I'll change the caption accordingly now. EMsmile (talk) 02:26, 13 March 2020 (UTC)

Environmental health or occupational health
[edit]Under the heading 'challenges' should the subtitle environmental health be occupational health instead? Sparsh85 (talk) 18:36, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
- Yea, I have changed it. I guess there is a bit of overlap between the two terms. EMsmile (talk) 07:59, 3 August 2020 (UTC)
Suggestions for improvement (Nov 2021)
[edit]I'll try to make time to work on this article in the next two months. Here are my suggestions for improvement (if anyone has time, please go ahead, don't wait for me):
- There are probably too many bullet point lists; consider converting them to prose.
- We should add more content on safety aspects.
- Perhaps more content on country examples.
- The readability score is quite low. We should change the language to make it easier to understand for the general public.
- A higher number of sources/references would be good.
- I am not sure if the article is complete and comprehensive or if we have missed out important aspects? See also here for inspiration on which sub-topics could be relevant: https://forum.susana.org/sanitation-workers
- I noticed that there are relatively few "incoming links" (159 so far). This means the article is not well embedded in the Wikipedia web yet. Perhaps more articles should link to it. You can see which articles currently link to it here.
- The lead is too short; should be about 600 words and is currently only 165 words. The readability of the lead is also low and it's not a good summary of the article. EMsmile (talk) 03:43, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
