Satellite No More?

The three external links get you to a Toshiba page. However, they do not get you to a Toshiba Satellite, nor did 'searching' find a 'new' unit being sold by Toshiba. Anyone know more? Walts0042 (talk) 12:48, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

Class-Action Suit

The A70, A75, M30X, and M35X series of the satellite notebooks seemed to be steeped in problems. A 100 difference in Canada and United States

The Toshiba A 100 series is configure diffenerly in U.S. and Canada, while the Canadian version can have GeForce Go 7600, the U.S. can only have Geforce 7300. They won't even have the option of picking the 7600.

Toshiba has almost always offered more options to markets other than the United States. Even Great Britain, where technology tends to lag considerably, Toshiba usually launches products before they do in the U.S. I am not sure why, but I don't think it questions integrity - they just realize that markets exist outside the United States. Toshiba Satellite 1905-S277

This computer has a terrible overheating problem.

I had a thinner version Satellite that would overheat and shut off. This version was it's replacement but it continues to have the overheating problem, though not as bad.

Batteries on this laptop run hot and don't last more than 6 months. The heat also makes my CD/DVD drive skip and shut down. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.56.134.2 (talk)

A215 Information

National bias in article

While it makes some token efforts, the article is written from a US-centric position. "The model was $2400." "They offered a 1 year warranty". Both US statements and largely meaningless in the global context of wikipedia. For example, contrast it with the price in Germany or the warranty in New Zealand (essentially, governed by Government Act, not whatever the manufacturer states). Relation to Qosmio

Yes Toshibas website is lacking. They focus only on what they currently sell - today - things sold in the past are hidden deep inside the menus of 'support'

Please note the bottom of the manual states 'satellite x205'

This should prove that the X205 is a satellite. The fact that the model number x205 - and then x305 x405 x505 x605 x705 and various other model numbers that start with an X - all of these X series machines are much thicker and more powerful. Some but not all will also have the label of 'satellite' - SOME of them have the label of 'Qosmio' - ALL of them have a model number which begins in a letter X.

This is a branding problem on Toshibas part. If a company re brands their name but retains the model number structure - I am not sure how wikipedia should consider editing things. Since there is no doubt that an x205 is a satellite - and not a qosmio - then the references to the x205 (and I believe all other x models) should remain under the satellite heading.

Qosmio is its own seperate page; and thats fine - it needs to be referenced on the Satellite page however - because many of the older Qosmios are also called 'Satellite Qosmio' (physically labeled this way on the laptop)

The drivers used from satellites to qosmios are identical. They keyboards are interchangable - many other parts are interchangable (from a hardware repair point of view) Yes some have different hardware - or more hardware - but over all the machines made during each production line resemble each other substantially.

Thoughts? - Questions?

I understand the idea of being 'too original' -though my information mostly comes from trial and error - in person physical labor - I can verify the information using Toshibas website - I actually spent a few hours using their websites drop down menu's to look up every last model number that was comparable and I documented them here on wikipedia quite a while ago (6 months? a year? - not sure - probably in the history)

I can NOT put the x205 on the qosmio page - because it is not - never has been - existed before the Qosmio branding...

So I have to put the x205 on the satellite page.

If I put the x205 on the satellite page - I should also at least REFERENCE the other X models - along with the fact that they are 'qosmio' - which I believe I had properly done in text at least (did not include links)

Jasper - Please take the information and post it the way you think it should be done... as long as you have all the model numbers listed as I had I'll be quite happy if they are on Satellite - Qosmio - Both - or split... I believe it was accurate when I posted it - and it has been that way here on the site for quite some time. I dont mind contributing to the community - but in this case I'll have to ask a 'veteran' to help out; my only other option is to screw it up again - waste your time when you dont like the way it looks - then I'll edit it again and again about 5 more times before you like it...

R830-13D

This article states that R series are convertible. My Toshiba Satellite R830-13D is non-convertible from year 2011.
