Hazel's Men Photo... The picture of "Hazel's men..." is incorrect. This is a picture of the Battery at Chatfield Morris Island with gun pointed at Fort Sumter (Charleston, South Carolina). It was misidentified in 2007 by Milhollen and Mugridge as being from Fort McAllister, Georgia but has since been declared to be from Chatfield Morris Island after analysis by the Director of the Army Heritage Museum and Andy House. This is in the description information for the source linked to in the photo itself: http://www.loc.gov/pictures/item/cwp2003000890/PP/
- Good catch. This is obviously not one of the pieces in Fort McAllister. Contemporary mages of the banded 32-pdr rifle at McAllister reveal had a wooden carriage, different cascabel knob assembly, had muzzle swell and muzzle chase ring. Nor does the terrain look like McAllister for which there were contemporary images (and key aspects are still noticeable today at McAllister.) I'll remove the image from this page.
