Wrong Picture

[edit]

Dear writer, the picture of the peacock throne that you have presented in this article is not the one which Nader shah brought from war. This is the Takhte Tavous which was built by Haj Mohammad Hossein Nezam Doleh Sadr Esfahani at Fathali shah’s time. The one that you are referring to is the small one which Reza Shah and Mohammad Reza Shah sat on. If you take a look at their coronation you will know which one I mean.

Correct Title

[edit]

Dear Wikipedia Administrators and visitors, this article should stand-alone and not be incorporated with Shah as done in the past, since the title of Shahanshah has a different function and meaning in Iranian culture and languages, as explained in the article - ← ← Parthian Shot (Talk) 21th June 2006.

Shahanshah were also used in fermans by ottoman padishahs

[edit]

Shahanshah were also used in fermans by ottoman padishahs This fact should be added here with better English.

Many Persianate societies have adopted this title, and that does not mean it is an Ottoman title. When the title of Shah, Padeshah and Shahanshah were deployed by Darius the Great in 6th centuray BCE, there were no Ottomans nor Turks! ← ← Parthian Shot (Talk) 13:51, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The word shahanshah was never used by Darius in the 6th century BCE. The term used was the Old Persian phrase (i.e. not one word) xšāyaθiya xšāyaθiyānām king of kings. And the comment above says only "Shahanshah were [sic] used in fermans by otoman padishahs" (my emphasis); it says nothing about shahanshah being an Ottoman term. So if shahanshah was used by Ottoman rulers as well, I don't see why that shouldn't be added to the article. Thefamouseccles 01:39, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
