This article has been brought to GAN prematurely and qualifies for the quick-fail criteria. Issues:

  • suggested merge with the article should be dealt with prior to GAN; the presence of this tag implies there's an issue with stability (GA criterion #5), as the contents of this article may be changed dramatically, or the article removed altogether
  • there's info in the lead not discussed in the body of the article
  • article is filled with molecular biology jargon and does not do a good job of presenting the material to an encylopedia-reading audience (random example: "It is here that the snRNA binds to the SmD1-SmD2-SmF-SmE-SmG pentamer, followed by addition of the SmD3-SmB dimer to complete the Sm ring around the so-called Sm site of the snRNA.")
  • somewhat related to the above point, the article does not do a good job explaining the topic. I imagine a high school student who read this would be more confused than when they started
  • some "paragraphs" (some of which are only one sentence long) lack any citations
  • citations in general are very sparse, especially for a topic like this which has such a rich body of scholarly literature to draw from.
