I just came from Frau Holle. This is the same entity. The very same. It should just be one article. --OGoncho (talk) 19:27, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
- I am against the merging of Spillaholle with Frau Holle. As author of this article, I had my thoughts why the Spillaholle is worthy of an own article instead of a section in the articles Frau Holle or Holda which basically describe the same legendary creature. The article Frau Holle deals mostly with Grimm's Fairy tale, the article Holda mostly with the folk traditions mentioned in Jacob Grimm's Deutsche Mythologie, giving rise to the pseudogoddess Holda. I am aware of Spillaholle and Frau Holle being the same entity, as I wrote: "The Spillaholle is a Silesian variant of female German legendary creatures such as Hulda or Perchta." Nonetheless, there are enough differences to the standard Frau Holle to warrant an own article. For example, the Spillaholle is generally malicious and exclusively connected to spinning. Same is shown for the Bohemian Frau Holle. The Standard Frau Holle of course is also an important patron of spinning, but she is more ambiguous in nature - somtimes malevolent, sometimes benevolent - and also closely connected to the wild hunt, a characteristic not found in the Silesian Spillaholle. Finally, the Spillaholle is featured in an own article in the Handwörterbuch des deutschen Aberglaubens (HwdA), the most standard encyclopedia of folktales and superstition in the German language area, while Frau Holle is featured in the same article as Perchta (in HwdA: article Perhta) and there is no doubt about that Perchta has her own article in the English Wikipedia. For all these reasons, I think that the Spillaholle is worthy of an own article and if this fact is still controversial, I will be ready to talk about it after a merger of Frau Holle and Holda which more clearly depict the same legendary creature.--Tarchunes (talk) 09:48, 21 January 2018 (UTC)
If the pages were merged, there would no longer be a problem with Frau Holle being mostly about Grimm's fairy tales. All of the content would be included. Am I correct? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.128.171.125 (talk) 13:14, 12 February 2018 (UTC)
- It surely can be seen like this.--Tarchunes (talk) 15:05, 26 February 2018 (UTC)
- I think that when Frau Holle and Holda are merged, I will now also concede in discussion and allow merger of Spillaholle with Frau Holle. Nonetheless, I persist on an own titled section for Spillaholle. As specific Silesian variant of Frau Holle, there are enough differences to the standard Holle to warrant at least this.--Tarchunes (talk) 15:21, 26 February 2018 (UTC)
@Tarchunes: It seems like we gained consensus (which I also support) for merging over a year ago, but no one performed the merger. Would you as a large contributor to the article want to perform the merger? Trialpears (talk) 14:45, 11 June 2019 (UTC)
- I guess I could do so when I have time at my disposal. I would like to include the article Holda in the merger too for reasons I already mentioned above. If not it would make more sense for me to merge "Spillaholle" with "Holda" rather than "Frau Holle" with its focus on the fairy tale.--Tarchunes (talk) 17:52, 12 June 2019 (UTC)
