Definition[edit]

a key variable in a derivatives contract

Surely it only applies to options? Are there any other types of derivative that have a strike price?--09:32, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

I read the page and I still couldn't figure out what a strike price is. The math on the options is great, but should really belong in the options page.

This article does not even come close to describing what a strike price is! Not that I know what it is after reading the page...

Could you be more specific?Statoman71 (talk) 17:06, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Etymology[edit]

Perhaps it would be helpful to say: "One can remember this as: 'The price at the time the deal was struck'. Contrast with spot-price, the price at the current time, or 'on the spot'." Not really sure where to fit it in, and I wanted to gain some consensus first, so if someone else concurs, by all means, please add it. I will probably not even add this page to my watch list, and even if I do it doesn't mean I ever review my watched pages, so Ill leave the responsibility of working this in to someone else if they deem it important.
