Discussion

[edit]

He seems independently notable to me, and I don't understand why there would be BLP concerns. Violet, where is the discussion you referred to? ←BenB4 22:28, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There hasn't been any discussion yet, and thanks for initiating it. This article isn't ever going to amount to anything more than a small stub under this name, and I don't think we really need it outside Gulf War. There may well be room for a new article about human shields around the time of the Gulf War though. violet/riga (t) 16:49, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Who knows, maybe someday he will write a book. I'm not opposed to the anchored redirect. I was curious when you mentioned BLP becuase while he lived through an odd sort of experience, I don't think relating it is in any way defamatory. And while he is famous for what was done to him rather than what he did, it's also true that he was famous because he appeared on TV, at least for a while, and that's different than just being a victim of a crime, for example. ←BenB4 17:15, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've been considering this case and believe that his name is well associated with the event and should remain in use. There is not much that can be gained from covering him in a biographical article though, I don't think, and would rather see a more general article about the topic. violet/riga (t) 18:03, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
