[edit]I could be wrong but is subtilisin obtained from B. amyloliquefaciens and not B. subtilis? I heard that it's a common misconception

Site specificity ?
[edit]Would a kind soul be able to put the site specificity of Subtilisin into this Wiki page? --Felix Tritschler (talk) 13:36, 31 July 2017 (UTC)
Brevity in Nomenclature section
[edit]Do we honestly need every available formulation of the protein listed in Nomenclature? I'd argue that nomenclature isn't even relevant to what reads like an ad listing. Thor214 (talk) 11:20, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
- They are unfortunately relevant in another way: in that the list shows that subtilisin is not just one protein, but a whole group of them. We need to at least peel through the level of brand names to list the specific different subtilisin gene sources they use.
- The other issue is this: if "subtilisin" and "subtilases" are both groups of proteins, what’s the difference between them? Intuitively the former group is narrower and seems to only include examples from Bacillaceae, but has anyone written down a concrete, citable taxonomy? Artoria2e5 🌉 16:37, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
