This article is wrong, or at least misdirects. I came here to look at data on the TI-56 and the article is about a different family of calculators, albeit also made by Texas Instruments, in 1977, called the SR-55/6. The TI-56 was made between 1985 and 1986, and was silver with a slanted display and an LCD screen. There is quite a reasonable and accurate short article in datamath http://www.datamath.org/Sci/Slanted/TI-56.htm and wikipedia should reflect that.
