Gay Icon Project
[edit]In my effort to merge the now-deleted list from the article Gay icon to the Gay icons category, I have added this page to the category. I engaged in this effort as a "human script", adding everyone from the list to the category, bypassing the fact-checking stage. That is what I am relying on you to do. Please check the article Gay icon and make a judgment as to whether this person or group fits the category. By distributing this task from the regular editors of one article to the regular editors of several articles, I believe that the task of fact-checking this information can be expedited. Thank you very much. Philwelch 22:18, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- TLC fits the category. Gay men (especially Black ones) love them. --FuriousFreddy 16:15, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)
R U The Girl section
[edit]Presumably during a time when this page was being vandalized, the section about R U The Girl... was left out. I had to go back into the archives and restore it. Also, I removed that redundant item about Left Eye's solo career as she has her own page on Wiki which discusses it, as well as the redundant (and inaccurate) repetition of how many albums the band has sold. Let's be a little more on top of things when we're RV'ing, OK, guys? Cjmarsicano 05:12, 12 October 2005 (UTC)
I made some updated to the R U The Girl Section in December 2005. Included in the updates were ratings for the show, as well as controvery over whether the shows was rigged or not. These updates have since been edited with the section on the alleged ligitmacy of the show being taken out.

Record Sales Controversy
[edit]The previous editor recommended staying clear of discussing record sales. However, it was important to add this sectiion due to increasing claim to the title of best selling female group. This section actually explains that neither TLC or Destiny's Child can solely claim the title.
"Destiny's Child currently holds the title of being the best-selling R&B girl-group of all time, selling 47 million albums and singles (62 million records sold when combining the solo sales of Knowles, Rowland and Williams alongside the group's success).TLC and Destiny's Child remain rather close, with both claiming total international sales over 40 million records. It could be argued, however, that Destiny's Child sales figures could easily surpass TLC's. (unsigned by 207.69.137.43)
- And that doesn't mean that they have that title, because TLC and DC are very close and the Spice Girls are ahead. You can't argue that one is greater than the other while the difference is small and international figures are not validated, since there is no central administration and thus includes shipments figures and distribution sales. Not over the counter sales. KittenKlub 18:38, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
- I stand by the previous editor's recommendation that we steer clear of record sales numbers. Quite bluntly, they don't mean shit in the long run. How long the music will stick around matters more. Does anyone even care about the Spice Girls anymore? --Cjmarsicano 19:36, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
- I know and given the continous changes it would be wise to delete it. The Spice Girls are no longer relevant (there is still a large community BTW so some do care but it's not like it used to be), but they did set a very high target. Who put the original story in BTW. Let's check that first. KittenKlub 19:42, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
- It was put in by an anonymous user, who put in a similar story at DC and Spice Girls, so let's throw it out because that probably started the controversy. KittenKlub 19:46, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
- Reguardless of how relevant the Spice Girls are, they still hold the International title. The information reguarding the record sales was CORRECT and came from the RIAA, which tracks records sales in America. Several girl group make the claim of top selling act, the entry merely stated the facts of who sold what. I will continue to add the entry to this section because I think it is relevant information. U guys can delete it as much as you want but I will continue to add it. (unsigned by 138.88.138.134)
- A decision was made reached that this information leads to flame and edit wars and is not acceptable. All data is extrapolated since only a part of the sales are registered. This includes Billboard sales information which is not exact. RIAA certifications are by shipment so that is not related to sales. International data is often unverified and even less reliable. Therefore a slight difference as between DC and TLC only leads to unnecessary conflicts and the total amounts especially the international amount cannot be verified nor validated.
- Since the same information was put at all three places at the same time a conclusion was reached that the section was meant as a trigger for unneeded edits. And the original position was far from NPOV and even after some editing it still wasn't a neutral point of view. If you continue to place the information you will be regarded as a disruptor, because the edit serves no purpose other than to incite edits back and forth and is not neutral. Reason cleanup? Can anybody provide details
[edit]This may not be the greatest article, but I don't think it deserves such a negative template. There are definitely improvements possible, but overall it is a reasonable article. Also given the size of the article, the cleanup template seems to be not appropriate and gives a very negative first impression on the article which isn't true. Please provide exact details why the tag is appropriate, because neither here or on the cleanup overview it contains reasons, and I'm more inclined to remove the tag for being frivilous. KittenKlub 17:40, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
- Cleanup tag removed. I wish people were more careful putting negative templates on articles which are worse than the article itself. After all a C is still a passing grade.KittenKlub 18:11, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
- A C may be a passing grade, but it's not a good one. Cleanup tag added back. Article needs extensive rewrite to new sections, and full revision overall. Try for at least a B, son't settle for less. --FuriousFreddy 17:41, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
- This is why I ignore cleanup tags. You are taking attention away from articles which need it much more that this one. Kappa 18:05, 26 December 2005 (UTC)

- There are more important articles to be cleaned up. It is good enough. The clean up tags actually the page look worse than it is and if you feel like reformatting it, go ahead. KittenKlub 22:01, 26 December 2005 (UTC)

This article should be moved back to "TLC"
[edit]It is the most common usage, and now hundreds of articles are linked to the disambiguation page instead of this one. This message can be placed at the top of the article: For other uses, see TLC (disambiguation), but the move was unncessary. --Musicpvm 08:11, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
- If nothing else it should be moved to TLC (band) to fit the other thousands of band articles that have that convention. Jdcooper 01:09, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- Agreed. The current title does not follow Wikipedia naming conventions. --Musicpvm 22:13, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

Chart Positions - UK
[edit]Many of the chart positions for the UK are wrong. I'm not sure of their actual positions, but TLC have never had a number 1 record in the UK, yet the positions say they had several. I'm Good At being Bad was not released in the UK, either. The UK chart positions should be based on sales only, which is how the official chart is composed.
Stoosh 17:49, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, somebody definitely messed around with the positions. Many of the U.S. positions seem incorrect too, especially the R&B ones. TLC does not have that many number-one R&B singles, and there is no way songs like "I'm Good At Being Bad" and "Dear Lie" went to #1 on the R&B chart. I'll try looking for an older version of this article with correct chart data and fix them. --Musicpvm 05:59, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
VOICE OF LOVE POSSE
[edit]I'm not sure where to categorize this (maybe "guest appearances"?), but during around December 2003, TLC participated with an all star group of Japanese R&B/hip-hop artists in a song called "Voice of Love" by the "VOICE OF LOVE POSSE". The names of some of the famous Japanese artists included: Zeebra、LISA、Tina、F.O.H、AI、HI-D、MICHICO、DJ Kaori、Tyler、L.L. BROTHERS、BENNIE K、Ryohei Yamato、kazami、Boo、JINE、EMYLI、JOYCE、MIHO BROWN. They can be seen the music video for the single too. I found a copy of it on YouTube right here:
They can be seen in the latter half of the video. --Gar2chan 13:22, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
Lisa Lopes listed as current member though deceased?
[edit]Lisa Lopes ought to be listed as a former member rather than a current member, since she is deceased. I noticed this once before, and made a change to the page, and have since noticed that someone changed it back. The Lisa Lopes page uses the past tense stating that she was a member of TLC, which makes sense, as a dead person cannot possibly continue to be in a band. That being said, it is contradictory for this page to include her in the present tense. Both can't be right. I'll change it back, and if someone can explain to me why I'm wrong, please do. I'd be fascinated!
--mihalis, 23:09, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
- Unless TLC is still touring, Lisa Lopes is still a member of the group. I honestly don't know shit about TLC and can't stand a single note they ever made, but one doesn't consider John Lennon and George Harrison "former" members of the Beatles. --70.108.92.221 01:36, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
Lisa Lopes Should be considered a current member for many reasons unless they decide to change their name to T.C which i doubt will ever happen she should be considered a current member. Think about it the L stands for Left Eye its not just there for decoration and also to date there has not been a T.L.C album without lisa on it and I would think if someone asked the remaining members they would agree that they would not consider her a so called "former" member when i first saw that she was put in the former member category i disagreed with it immediately and thought it should be changed back to how it was now thats my 2 cents so think about it
ps. i agree with that Beatles metaphor good example.--LeftEye02 03:15, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
Hmm... Well, as far as the Beatles metaphor goes, the Beatles page says that the Beatles "were" a band--not that they "are." That being said the only way one could logically consider a deceased person a current member of a music group is if that music group no longer exists. Hence, this entire article ought to be in the past tense. Trixen 04:48, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
In interviews, T-Boz and Chilli have suggested that Left Eye is technically still in the group. Which makes sense because she appeared posthumously on 3D, including promo material. Crumbsucker 16:01, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
Maybe if she was listed under "past members" then it would be more appropriate since she is deceased.Masterpeace3 (talk) 02:03, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
Band? Or group?
[edit]As far as I know, a band plays instruments... Respectfully, SamBlob 18:10, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
I concur. TLC is a group--not a band. 76.184.126.174 03:07, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- And yet, here it is almost six years later and the article's still at TLC (band). john k (talk) 16:43, 9 January 2013 (UTC)

Boobs
[edit]I just want to point out that in the black and white picture at the top of the page, left-eye's nipple is visible. i don't know if this is a problem, like if there's a rule about this or anything, just wanted to point it out.
- Not a problem, wikipedia is not censored. Oysterguitarist 03:39, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
