Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because there is an active requested move discussion that was only just started in the past several days. We should let that play out by allowing additional editors to participate in the discussion. --Dmehus (talk) 17:41, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dmehus,

Did you not read? It met the criteria for speedy deletion...

1) No article exists at the new target title,
2) There has been no discussion (especially no recent discussion) about the title of the page that expressed any objection to a new title,
3) It seems unlikely that anyone would reasonably disagree with the move.

So, tell me where does "active requested move discussion" fall into your reasoning for not allowing a speedy deletion, on a redirect no less? -- WILDSTARtalk 17:52, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion of Telus Corporation request withdrawn per discussion with WildStar at Talk:History of Telus#Should Telus pages be reorganized?, so that Telus Corporation (conglomerate) can move back to Telus Corporation. Nevertheless, if a proposal ever comes forward to create a disambiguation page for Telus, I would oppose that, rather strongly, given that Telus is the clear primary topic for that title. Invalid contested deletion

[edit]

Per here, here, and here, user was confused, with request for a speedy deletion of the redirect for Telus Corporation. The request was to allow moving Telus Corporation (conglomerate) to Telus Corporation. -- WILDSTARtalk 18:56, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

As I said, given that there is a parallel discussion regarding moving Telus Corporation to Telus, and since Telus Corporation is an entirely plausible redirect as {{R from official name}} for Telus, we should at least allow those reorganization discussions to play out by allowing a fuller discussion among interested editors. For example, at present, Telus Corporation (conglomerate) amounts to a duplicative content fork of Telus—both articles are about the publicly-traded telecommunications holding company. I would be supportive of ultimately deleting Telus Corporation (conglomerate), as a redirect, but I just think, given that the reorganization of the articles is resolved, we're jumping the gun on requesting speedy deletion here. Thus, I'm not sure that reason # 3 has been satisfied Dmehus (talk) 19:06, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
