Tessitura
[edit]"Ranges of pitches" is a rather awkward and ungainly way of describing the tessitura of the instrument. A better description would be simply "Range" or "Compass", however, I am at a loss to understand why the term "tessitura" was edited out.

I must concur with mister Guy; I feel his assertions on nomneclature are spot on.
