[edit]This article about "Thawb" should be merged with the article about "Thobe" I belive. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.29.71.9 (talk • contribs)
- I have merged the articles. ← ANAS Talk? 12:39, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
- I'm in the Kingdom and I was wondering if I should buy and wear a Thawb? I'm a white Brit working in an office with locals. Is it offensive to wear the thawb if I am not a Muslim? Is it considered smart dress akin to a suit and tie? I know the locals like attempts to speak Arabic, would wearing a thawb with a Ghutra etc respect my attempts to integrate? Or would I look like silly?
- i would go with the latter actually
- Why don't you ask your fellow workers? I guess that they can answer that question.
- i don't know how old your question is, but don't attempt to wear a dishdash, it's totally inappropriate! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.193.250.151 (talk) 03:23, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
I dont think it would be offensive to wear a thobe. You can look at it in another way, i.e. a local wearing a kilt (scotland). I think that should give you a fair idea. Hope it helps. [edit]Should Galabeya and jellabiya articles redirect to here? Funkynusayri (talk) 09:04, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
- Support merge. The Thobe, Galabeya and Jellabiya are the same thing. See here on an Islamic shop: Thobe and Galabiyya. Robert C Prenic (talk) 13:43, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
- Support merge. I think the Thawb/Thobe article should be the one they are merged into. Arthur Warrington Thomas (talk) 03:19, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- Support merge. Yes, even if there are subtle differences between the types, it could be mentioned in a single article. Funkynusayri (talk) 04:30, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
