[edit]I believe that it is inaccurate to say that this movie was "filmed in IMAX 3D." Something that is filmed in "IMAX 3D" usually (if not always) means that actual IMAX 3D cameras were used. Had this movie been entirely filmed with IMAX 3D cameras, it would be a huge deal, and it would be more than just a footnote on the IMAX website. And on its website, IMAX has announced that they will be distributing this film in China only (so far). Also, there is no mention that there are any sequences filmed with IMAX cameras, or that it will even be formatted for IMAX theaters. I speculate it is mostly going to be released in their digital, or DMR theaters. Whether it will be released in IMAX 15perf/70mm, I don't know yet. But the sources titled "Donnie Yen To Transform Himself Into The Monkey King" and "Monkey King gets 3-D IMAX treatment" are both old sources that I think incorrectly say that the movie will be filmed in IMAX 3D. So all I'm saying is we need to get to the bottom of this and see if this really was "filmed in IMAX 3D." Because if it was, that would be HUGE (literally and figuratively). is this film set in the same continuity with The Forbidden Kingdom? Like a prequel? --69.242.133.252 (talk) 19:46, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
- Seriously, you asked this in 2012?! Anyway, both films draw on the Chinese literary classic Journey To The West. The story of Sun Wukong, the monkey king, is well known to over a billion people in Asia, where it has the ubiquity that Grimm's Fairy Tales has in Europe and the U.S. Hundreds, if not thousands of Asian films have been based on the picaresque novel, which runs to several thousand pages in English. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.1.207.4 (talk) 13:50, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
I'm made some edits to The Monkey King article, making corrections with the production companies and the producers involved in the Chinese version and English version of this movie. I've sited references to both. Some information that was included previously were from articles back in 2010, which were not accurate.
