Unrest

[edit]

Oh, is Unrest really remixed? I would say it is the original mix. And actually I do not find information about remixing from the album cover. So could we correct the information on this page? 188.67.28.31 (talk) 13:06, 1 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, Unrest was not remixed. I've corrected the article. —Bruce1eetalk 11:39, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Lovers of Gold

[edit]

I clearly hear Dagmar singing in the song from around 0:46 onward and the lyrics are even printed in the album's booklet or at least on the album I own. Is there different versions of the album or what? 91.154.226.220 (talk) 17:04, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, the ESD release of IPOL has lyrics for "Lovers of Gold", but I don't remember them being sung. I'll dig out my CDs and have a listen. —Bruce1eetalk 17:58, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I listened to "Lovers of Gold" on the ESD CD release of In Praise of Learning, and on Cabinet of Curiosities from the 40th Anniversary box set, and both have Dagmar singing Chris' lyrics near the beginning. (It's been a long time since I listened to this.)
In the In Praise of Learning CD liner notes, Chris is not credited with writing the lyrics, even though they are printed in the CD booklet. All it states is that "Lovers of Gold" is an alternative use of the material used in "Beginning: The Long March" (which is an instrumental). In Cabinet of Curiosities, Chris is also not credited with writing the lyrics.
I'll note this omission in In Praise of Learning, Cabinet of Curiosities and The Virgin Years. —Bruce1eetalk 08:20, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Update: I see that Chris is credited as one of the composers of "Lovers of Gold", so we must assume that that would include the lyrics. So my statements above are not correct. —Bruce1eetalk 08:37, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I understood the credit H.Cow-S.Happy./Cutler as Henry Cow and Slapp Happy are composers and Chris Cutler is lyricist just as for example Beautiful as the Moon is credited Frith/Cutler. 91.154.226.220 (talk) 13:08, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What does it mean that Cutler have created the remix? It is credited to be mixed by Hodgkinson. 91.154.226.220 (talk) 13:34, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The liner note credits are a little confusing. As I understand it Chris created "Lovers of Gold" using material used in "Beginning: The Long March". What isn't clear is whether his name in the song's credits is for creating the song and for the lyrics, or just for the lyrics, because Tim is credited as having mixed it. —Bruce1eetalk 16:05, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
