Orphaned references in Horrible Histories troupe
[edit]I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Horrible Histories troupe's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

"Idiots Assembled"?
[edit]Is this actually what the group call themselves? I noticed the linked webpage states "Disclaimer: Idiots Assembled are a team who established their fanpage in 2016. We are not associated or affiliated with the cast or the BBC". I understand why a fanpage might try to give them a "Monty Python"-type name, but where has this actually come from? For them to be labelled this way on Wikipedia, we really need to see a reliable source like a newspaper article or press release, or even just a comment from one of the 'troup' identifying themselves this way, otherwise it's original research. - I can't find a single reliable source for the 'Idiots assembled' name. It needs reverting. - X201 (talk) 07:08, 17 June 2019 (UTC)
- I've moved everything back to "Horrible Histories troupe", at least that has sources that refers to them as a troupe and as the team behind Horrible Histories. Idiots Assembled had no reliable sources and was explicitly a fan site. - X201 (talk) 10:44, 17 June 2019 (UTC)
- I've found one Tweet that says "Idiots Assemble" but it is not stating that that is their name for themselves. It's just a passing play on words on Avengers Assemble, to say that they're in rehearsals. - X201 (talk) 13:29, 17 June 2019 (UTC)
- Idiots assemble is the name of an ('unnofficial') YouTube channel about the Horrible Histories troupe which uses the term "the Six Idiots" for the Horrible Histories troupe. I am going to edit the page and I might include the term in an "also known as" format. Krystal Kalb (talk) 23:28, 7 November 2021 (UTC)
- Note: This is after my edit and I have added a mention of the alternative name. Krystal Kalb (talk) 00:25, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
- They are not known as The Six Idiots. There are no reliable sources that call them that. YouTube is not a reliable source. It should not be in the article. - X201 (talk) 08:13, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
- I agree. YouTube is not a reliable source. It is just that some people call them that even if it is not their official name, for example that YouTube channel Idiots Asssemble. [1] Krystal Kalb (talk) 22:47, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
- At the moment the only reliable sources we have are a couple of references referring to them as a troupe, until that changes or they declare an official name for themselves, we have to go with the sources that we have. - X201 (talk) 08:50, 15 November 2021 (UTC)
- I know the group is called the Six Idiots (I am a fan of them myself). I have found quite a few sources describing the group as the Six Idiots but none of them are particularly reliable (they're all fan made sites or posts about the group on social media), I do however remember watching an interview in which Jim Howick describes the group as the Six Idiots (I think he answered a question about the name of the group and he described that they kind of adopted the fan given name of 'the six idiots') I have been trying to find the original interview for a while, I will keep trying though! Here is one of the aforementioned fan siteshttps://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Creator/TheSixIdiots Scurfytwiglet394 (talk) 15:52, 2 May 2022 (UTC)
- I have learnt a lot more since I last wrote in this talk. They are known as the Six Idiots but that is a fan name. Their official name is ThemThere. Krystal Kalb (talk) 06:54, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
