Lead in sentence/paragraph improvement required[edit]

The current first sentence of this article is - Thymic stromal lymphopoietin is a protein that in humans is encoded by the TSLP gene.

I feel that the policy of using this particular introducing sentence for each cytokine, protein, receptor etc could cause some problems in the future. Each protein introducing sentence should be unique and emphasis should be on the basic function/s, which can lead into what species produce it etc. Mention of the gene in humans can still be present however later in the paragraph. Maybe something along these lines-

eg. "Thymic Stromal Lymphopoietin (TSLP) is a protein belonging to the cytokine family." 2nd and 3rd sentences can then move on to function and genes within various species etc. eg. "Known to play an important role in the maturation of T cell subsets through activation of antigen presenting cells." Aqua112233 (talk) 09:15, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
