Proposed deletion[edit]
I hear that this should be deleted because "Popular phrases such as this one, do not deserve their own article's"
I would need clarification on why this is insignificant, given that it has history and meaning that are not readily available from a dictionary, to understand why it should be deleted.
I can see the fear of trying to make a page for every possible common phrase, I have tried to not make this a simple catalog of meaning by including the possible historical link with cryptology, though it is now used in a more general sense.
Phrases such as Mind over matter, With flying colours and Where no man has gone before have pages, and seem to have similar complexity and cultural usage, maybe they need to be deleted as well if this does.
Of course irrelevance should be avoided, but what is common knowledge to most is not necessarily too redundant to make available. Any Armadillo (talk) 15:03, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
This could be developed more. I mean there are even more meanings to "Read Between the Lines." The more common one that I think of is an insult. A person holds up there hand and says read between the lines. However, where to find citations for these things is another matter. Thelema418 (talk) 04:38, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
While I appreciate the comments above, I'm minded to redirect this to inference (which would match reading between the lines) as I haven't been able to find significant coverage in reliable sources or evidence that this article could plausibly be expanded to the point where it would be more than a dictionary definition. Moving to Wiktionary, as the {{dicdef}} tag proposes, is not necessary as wikt:read between the lines already exists.
