Contesting Speedy Deletion[edit]

This article was created as a stub for further expansion. The editor who has added this speedy tag obviously has done no research into the subject and has gone a bit tag happy. I tagged the article in good faith because it didn't seem reasonable that a rest stop on the highway would be notable. No rest stop in the US would ever be notable (I don't believe) so I suppose my experience might cloud objective judgment on the topic. If you look at my service station todo list you'll see that expanding this article beyond a stub isn't a high priority, as I'm trying to get the other articles up to a reasonable standard. There is no reason for that speedy tag to be there. If you feel that UK Service Station articles are not appropriate, feel free to take them all to AfD, but it has been tried and failed many times. Just because they don't warrant articles in the US doesn't mean that is the case in the UK. Last time I checked stubs were allowed on WP, that is how articles evolve (as far as stubs go, this is actually a high quality stub). Further reply regarding your comments about rest stops. As I understand it, in the US these are on a much smaller scale and much more frequent. In the UK we do have comparable "rest stops", but these are generally not signed from the Motorway (highway/interstate). The only signed rest stop we have is at Todhills on the M6, again as I understand it, these may become more common in addition to our "full blown service areas". A comparison has been made in previous AfD debates that our Service Stations are comparable to Railway Stations (which we have articles for each one on here). It is noticable that US users are quick to make deletion comments on these articles when they incorrectly compare them to their own rest areas. I hope this clears things up.
