Merge proposal[edit]

This article should be merged with Top Gear (current format). There is no reason for a separate article that is no more than a stub. – ukexpat (talk) 16:22, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I agree. Top gear stuntman doesn't need his owna article. Maybe a small sectoin in the main Top Gear article depending on how much action he sees in the current series. Looneyman (talk) 12:04, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Agree - merge. No notability outside Top gear, and yet to be shown to be significant within the programme. TrulyBlue (talk) 08:59, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Neutral. Key phase 'not yet shown to be significant'. If he does become notable then the article will keep being remade and then taken away as the subjects notibility is questioned. Also, the size of the Top Gear article needs to be considered. It's huge, it doesn't need another paragraph. LicenseFee (talk) 11:09, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. A good point. Maybe we should leave the article as it is and see how the current series progresses in terms of how he is used and then make a decision. Good point about factoring in the current length of the Top Gear article as well. Looneyman (talk) 15:21, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disagree: The page on Top Gear is already completely ponderous and does not need any more content. The Top Gear team have already used him twice in two episodes, and it seems certain he will become a full-fledged member of the team with regular appearances. Andy Wilman, the executive producer, has said that Stunt Man is someone who will be become more popular and recognized with repetition[1]— a clear intent to reuse the character in much the same way as The Stig. Chaparral2J (talk) 04:50, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disagree In a way similar to The Stig, this character will become important. As the staff on Top Gear intend. To get rid of this article now would be pointless. He's only been in two episodes.Seanor3 (talk) 20:22, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Neutral so far - he's only just starting out, and didn't appear in episode 11x3 this Sunday (though to be fair, neither did the Stig). He may yet go the way of Top Gear Dog if they run out of stunts or the public don't take to him. The section is enjoyable enough but has a bit of a series 1 flavour to it... might be dropped like a hot rock and be consigned to a footnote in the main article, or may do some epic stuff and be worthy of his own article. What may be more worthwhile is creating an article for Jim Dowdall himself (as he is quite an accomplished stunt performer and co-ordinator of a couple decades hollywood/pinewood standing when you do the research, but hasn't yet been wiki'd), and including the TGSM appearances as a small section within. 77.102.101.220 (talk) 23:36, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Agree He appeared in two episodes for less then 5 minutes each time. He has not been mentioned since either, so at least until we have more to build an article on (which means waiting until the next series), then this should be merged.81.152.117.158 (talk) 21:10, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
