[edit]

In mathematics a transform is an operator applied to a function so that under the transform certain operations are simplified

That's not a definition, possibly an application, but not a definition. So what is a transform? I only ask because I have wikilinked an article here that would not fit that definition/application, but I'm definitely talking about transforms in the article. agree this definition is very poor! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.60.136.7 (talk) 12:21, 27 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
i tried to make change acessible for non-mathematicians and philozophers. needs cleanup, be gentle :) 84.16.123.194 (talk) 20:02, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This page contains poor grammar (e.g.: "Transform is from latin word" -- first sentence; others follow), ambiguity (e.g.: "It might be written by operator, when it is enough commmon, or by equation ..." [sic]) and misinformation (e.g.: "In mathematics a tranform is "recipe" how input (see domain) is (related) to output (see range)"). The author seems to be using "transform" to be simultaneously synonymous with both "integral transform" (appropriate) and "transformation" (inappropriate), which is contradictory. The example contained could be a candidate for being merged with Integral Transform. Christophre (talk) 01:07, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agree that transformation is inappropriate, so why does the page redirect there? "Transform" is used in many contexts so that a general and once for all definition is not possible, but transformation has a definitely different meaning in standard usage. so this page should either give a brief introduction, or redirect to integral transform! 78.15.203.91 (talk) 17:24, 19 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
