Classified as a placodont?

[edit]

The article said "originally the Trilophosaurs were classified with placodonts and sauropterygia". But Case, who first named Trilophosaurus in 1928, classified it as a cotylosaur (see here). I'm assuming that Carroll classified it within Sauropterygia, although it could have been Gregory (1945) ("Osteology and relationships of Trilophosaurus") or Romer (1956) (Osteology of the Reptiles). Is there anyone who has Carroll's Vertebrate Paleontology and Evolution and would be willing to look this up? Smokeybjb (talk) 05:46, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
