Sixth Paragraph[edit]

This is total speculation:

It is an interesting fact to note that the amulet curses those that it does not accept with death (this was how Dan and Nawaki died, Tsunade had given them both the amulet, to show how proud she was of them, as they both wanted to become Hokage, but apparently the amulet did not accept them.)Those that the necklace serves (aka, immune to the curse)so far have all become Hokages. The necklace accepted Tsunade, who did become the Godaime Hokage, the uncanny part is that it also accepted Naruto, so is Naruto destined to become a Hokage?

Nowhere in the Manga or Anime does it say that the necklace is actually cursed, just that Tsunade thinks it is. Also nowhere does it say that the necklace "accepts" people or not. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talkcontribs) 11:07, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

You are right, neither the anime nor the manga gives concrete evidence that the necklace is cursed. While there is evidence that it might be, i think it is better to say "the necklace may be cursed" rather than affirming that "the necklace is cursed. Also you are right that while naruto is aspiring to become a hokage, it is not right to say "he will become hokage" because neither anime nor manga showed that naruto became the hokage.

Tsunade's Name (綱手)[edit]

About Tsunade's name in kanji -- it says in the trivia section "The name "Tsunade" (綱手) means "mooring rope"." Can somebody confirm this? From my knowledge, the kanji translates to "net" and "hand" respectively, not "mooring rope." Observation 07:01, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

From my understanding of the Kanji, It makes more sense to translate it using Traditional Chinese, which yields "Hand of Iron", more understandable due to the fact Tsunade is portrayed as a character with immense strength. 21:21, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
Hm, I agree, although it wasn't until recently that someone told me that 綱 was "wang3" (net) -- which is probably incorrect. From what I know, they pronounce her name as "gang1 shou3" (iron hand) in the Chinese dub, which is why it has cause me confusion when this page stated her name meant "mooring rope," -- a definition that makes no sense in the first place. 13:11, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Gāng shǒu "gang1 shou3" is its correct pronounciation. And I would like to add that 綱, 鋼, or 钢 (Simplfied Chinese) actually meant steel, not iron, although they are fundamentally the same element. Sorry if I caused any confusion. 網 is wǎng (wang3), a similar character, although it have a completely different meaning. Doomed Rasher 22:22, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
Animelab's Japanese to English dictionary translated 綱手 to "mooring rope" [1]. – Pedantic79 (talk) 05:39, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

All languages have idioms. This seems, from the controversy, to be one. ( 02:33, 21 May 2007 (UTC))

Ninjutsu used by Tsunade[edit]

When Tsunade attempted to kill Orochimaru with a ninjutsu that looked like healing but instead is an offensive jutsu, as Kabuto states; "The flow of chakra is not right". The ninjutsu is similar to Rasengan. Seeing that Jiraiya and the Fourth know this jutsu, May it be possible that Tsunade possesses this jutsu as well? 21:26, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

I highly doubt that it was the Rasengan -- if Tsunade knew that attack, then why didn't she use it during her battle with Orochimaru when her life was at stake? Besides the Rasengan involves Chakra molded into a sphere-like shape, and Tsuande definitly was not forming a sphere of Chakra when she was about to decieve Orochimaru. 13:07, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
True...However, it still is a ninjutsu and we should figure out what its name is, so we can add it to the 'pedia.Doomed Rasher 21:33, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
There isn't a name for it, we don't know what it does, so it doesn't matter. More likely, Tsunade would use something similar to what she used on Kabuto, except more intense. So intead of messing up his nervous system, she'd disconnect Orochimaru's brain from his heart and lungs, or something along those lines. Tyciol 23:33, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
I believe Tsunade used the same jutsu that Kabuto used on Shizune, when he took her by the ankles. Both techniques consist of fire-like chakra. Or maybe this jutsu increases physical damage, since Tsunade had lost her super-human strength due the side effect of the super healing jutsu, and she sent Orochimaru pretty far. (I have problems with my english, sorry if I made gramatical mistakes) - Sasori -
I think this is just a collection of compressed chakra that Tsunade was building up to release on impact (So, basicaly using her strength with a slight charge up). 02:35, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
I agree with the above statement. Sakura also uses visible consentrated chakra in her hand to create more powerful blows at some point in the anime. I'm not totally sure, but I think it was when she was being tested with Naruto against Kakashi right before they joined Team Kakashi. ( 02:39, 21 May 2007 (UTC))

I do not agree with that. The jutsu was medical ninjutsu that can be used for offensive attacks it is not like the rasengan and that is the reason why Kabuto and Sakura also use it they are both medical ninja. —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 23:49, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Tsunade's Summon[edit]

Nothing is mentioned about Tsunade's slug summon, Katsuyu. - July 23, 06 (2:18 EST) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talkcontribs) 06:11, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

It is listed under Jutsu/Kekkei genkai on the right. – Pedantic79 (talk) 06:44, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

Another thing, this seems to be an opinion "her summoned giant slug, Katsuyu is not quite as strong as Jiraiya's frog, Gamabunta" especially since the databook indicates she is on equal grounds with Manda and Gama Bunta

I agree. it is a total oppinion. Katsuyu can spit acid and can split into mini-Katsuyu's at will or when struck to absorb the blow and render it harmless. ( 02:41, 21 May 2007 (UTC))

Voice actor wannabes?[edit]

Masashi Kishimoto was asked if he were to be able to be someone's voice he replied saying Tsunade.

Anyone opposed to my deleting this? I don't see the relevance. There's not even an article on Masashi. Tyciol 23:31, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

i don't oppose.--Kenshin -Himura 18:18, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Trivia Section Gone[edit]

Where did the Trivia Section go? I remembered there was a lot of info in it. Why would someone delete it... -Velen117 09:50, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

should there be something about her breast size?[edit]

or is the description of large breast fair enofhg?

"Tsunade's got a rack that just won't quit. I mean, she could feed a small nation with those things." Now that you've read that, think about how any description of her breast size beyond "ample" would sound. – Someguy0830 (T | C) 05:28, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
Funny. Yeah, but I agree with him/her. There should be something about the obvious here. This is Wikipedia after all. Maybe something like, "One notable feature of the character design is her relatively large breasts." Something like that. And if I remember, Jiraiya reacted to her breast size and said something about it upon meeting her again. Maybe a mention of that too? Or maybe I'm just too fascinated by her breasts, sorry. Moonwalkerwiz 05:55, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
"Tsunade is also known for her ample chest, though during their childhood, Jiraiya referred to her as "flat-chested Tsunade", for which she'd beat him up (this happened twice in two separate episodes)."
It is noted. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 06:03, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
Ah, I missed it because I was just hitting Ctrl+F and typing "breast." I forgot the word chest. Moonwalkerwiz 06:49, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
This is not suitable for children. What if a little kid got on here and read this? I would delete this section, but im lazy, and i don't know how. - Hyuuga-sama 02:47, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
And I'd revert you. Wiki isn't censored. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 02:54, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Yes, god forbid a kid between the ages of ten to fifteen read the word "breast". I'm sure their frail, fragile innocent minds would implode due to the sheer horror of such a concept as the breast. Perhaps anyone that 'easily offended' should not be on the internet to begin with. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) 03:01, 21 February 2007 (UTC).

i added about her breasts they are quite big i'd love to get on them

I'm sorry person who made the previous comment, but come on: get real. It's a 2-D character. I'm guessing you're a 3-D real-live-person. We all have our little fantacy worlds, but those are for you and you only. Keep them inside your head. (I'MNOTCRAZY 02:46, 21 May 2007 (UTC))

Okay first it would be the kid who choose to read it, we can't stop any kid from reading that, anyway why would the kid serach "Tsuande" if they didn't watch Naruto, which already does things that notes her breast size. For example episode 98 in Naruto, which is sort of inaporperate for little kids, but then agian it is rated TV PG.Ultimaterasengan 22:21, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

The rating has been changed from what I see. When ever I info it it says PG-13.

No don't need to. This is Japan we are talking about. Their level of censorship is different to America and other countries. Omghgomg 11:02, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

"medical jutsu" vs Mystical Palm[edit]

Is there some reason why the entry isn't just listed as [[List of ninjutsu in Naruto (H-R)#Mystical Palm Technique|Mystical Palm Technique]]? --Pentasyllabic 22:25, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

I just merged it to avoid confusion. They never actually call it that in the series. – Someguy0830 (T | C) 22:28, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
But it´s quite confusing if we name it "Medical jutsu" in the character pages and "Mystical Palm" in the jutsu section. We should at least use the same name in both pages. -- Felcis 23:30, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Naruto's pet names for Tsunade[edit]

While everyone else refers to her as Tsunade-sama and Hokage-sama, -sama being the customary Japanese honorifics used when referring to one's superior, should it not be noted that Naruto almost always uses one of the pet names he invented for her ("Old Lady Tsunade" and "Granny" seem to be the translations used by fansubbers)? I know that the Jiraiya article specifically mentions Naruto's pet name for him. It would add some clarity as to the closeness of their relationship since I doubt anyone else, except maybe Jiraiya, could get away with using those names. -- 03:10, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

It's already in there in the first few paragraphs. Retlor 00:29, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

ツナデ instead of 綱手?[edit]

In episode 92, Tsunade's name is displayed as ツナデ in the title, not 綱手. Should that not be her real Japanese name?--Louis 04:40, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Databook writes it as the latter. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 04:42, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Kekkai Genkai[edit]

If Tsunade is the grandaughter of the First Hokage then shouldnt she posses the ability to use Mokuton techniques and tailed-beast control?QuietDrive627 19:50, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Sorry it took me so long to answer quietdrive627 but i just found you question today. While its true that the first hokage is tsunade's grandfather, tsunade did not inherit the mokuton and the tailed-beast control that her grandfather had. It is also interesting to note that the second hokage (the first' younger brother) also did not inherit the first' unique jutsu.

It's only by potential. Maybe there's a chance that Tsunade can use Shodai's abilities in the manga?TwilightDog 00:06, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Yamato mentions that Wood Release is the result of a combination of Water and Earth chakra. Mr. 2 specialized in water-elemental techniques; that might be something. Additionally, Wind-elemental chakra is used for slicing, Fire-elemental chakra is used for combustion, Water-elemental chakra is used for dousing, Electric-elemental chakra makes paper crumple (causes contractions/stunning?), and Earth-elemental chakra reduces things to dust and rubble. Tsunade's rather good at that last one. This is entirely speculative, though. You Can't See Me! 02:53, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Please edit this article. I noticed someone thought it would be funny to be vile. There should be some way to record such changes. It makes a mockery of wikipedia. I don't think creating an account should allow a hidden IP address.

Hate to break it to you, but this kind of stuff happens all the time. It is in most cases fixed within five minutes (usually less) of its appearance. You Can't See Me! 06:36, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Her Last name??[edit]

I recently watched Naruto and I replayed this scene where Jiraiya tells Gai,naruto and Sasuke that the "Female Sannin" is coming or needs to come and it sounded like he called her "Lee Tsunade" Was it me or am I hearing things?

Hearing things. She has no known surname. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 02:45, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

shadow seal[edit]

What is the story with the seal on Tsunade's forehead? 22:16, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

The dot? It contains a huge amount of chakra for a healing jutsu called Creation Rebirth. Retlor 02:26, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
yes i know but how did it get there? 19:38, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
It's never said in the series. Anyways, this isn't a forum. Talk pages are for discussing improvements or other changes to the article itself. Sephiroth BCR 01:35, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Yeah it does but not derectly Tsuande just says "I've taken a great amount of chakra comperesed and sealed it."Ultimaterasengan 22:23, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

It said something like over the years she'd stored her chakra in the seal so she could use it in the event of an emergency. 00:34, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Breast Size[edit]

Do we know her breast size? If so, we should put that on her profile userbox thing --Grafiti232 20:05, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

............or not.Retlor 05:55, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
It's pretty obvious she's a DD. It's common sense really. Like the fact she's a woman. It doesn't need to be in the profile. Besides, then you would have to add it to every other Naruto profile on wikipedia. There needs to be a common stencil. (I'MNOTCRAZY 02:55, 21 May 2007 (UTC))
She's usually show bigger the DD. At least F.Penguinfaery 00:18, 20 August 2007 (UTC)penguinfaery
I always figured that Tsunade just followed the anime tradition of having a constantly fluctuating bust-line, as thus rendering the idea of a fixed cup-size irrelevant. Unless the anime, manga or databooks specifically mentions the exact size of her breasts (which is unlikely), it's just fan speculation anyway and speculation has no place in a wiki article.--StevenFurtado 06:17, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure about anyone else, but I'd like to see more pictures in the article. There's only the one headshot in the bio. I'm thinking there should be a full body picture. Anyone else agree? (I'MNOTCRAZY 02:57, 21 May 2007 (UTC))

Not really. It's a short article and her appearance doesn't change throughout the series. I see no need to. Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 03:53, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

I disagree. If anything, I'd suggest one with her green coat since that is her most common appearance. –Gunslinger47 04:33, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Tsunade's Genjustu[edit]

I've heard that the reason why Tsunade looks much younger than her actually age is because of a genjustu she uses thats always in affect. Is this true? Because I havn't seen anywhere in the manga, or anime, that mentions it.

CuteBlackBow 16:41, 28 May 2007 (UTC)CuteBlackBow

It's a permanent Transformation Technique. She maintains it via the chakra sealed on her forehead. Sephiroth BCR (Converse) Sephiroth BCR 17:26, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
the dot of Tsunade's forehead isn't for her transformation, its for her Creation Rebirth Jutsu, plus the transformation only lasts aslong as she has chakra, because at the end of her battle with Orochimaru you can see that the jutsu dispells because of your using too much chakra in the fight.

Deblow 02:57, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

No. The seal on her forehead isn't just for her Creation Rebirth, the seals purpose is to store chakra which is needed to sustain a transformation, and thats why her seal is always visible. Because the Seal continuously gives her transformation chakra, when she used it all on Creation Rebirth there was no more for the transformation. Yxgtree 14:29, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Jiraiya and Tsunade Married???[edit]

In the artical it says that Tsunade and Jiraiya were married. I must say I was shocked to read this (I was reading the manga for a while but I have been behind for a while). I was just wondering when they were married and does this meen that they beleve in divorses.Smileyface 12 91 ^_~

Perhaps you should read that paragraph more carefully. ~SnapperTo 18:21, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
Sorry I scaned through it to fast I was looking for some info and wasn't paying atention when I saw something about them being married but I do think it has a bad wording that should be rewriten (but then agian I did read it and thought that they were married so I don't know if I'm one to talk ^_^). Well if it goes with the myth I geuss they will get married sooner or later. Smileyface 12 91 ^_~
Wikipedia isn't a place for myth. Either way (SPOILER WARNING FOR THE MANGA!! SPOILER WARNING FOR THE JAPANESE MANGA!!), Jiraiya is dead, so that's impossible. IceUnshattered (talk) 22:46, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

I never remember them useing Hime do you mean sama? I'm chaning it if there are no objections.Ultimaterasengan 22:25, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

The Hime honorific is used several times in the anime - they use it because she is the granddaughter of the First Hokage, thus very much like a princess as she is related to the village founder. ApokalypseCow 18:45, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Her name[edit]

Well because it was originally made in Japan I’m going with Japan, but if you have friends who don’t watch it in Japanese then it’s best to say it in the English version. Smileyface 12 91 08:48, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
Japanese and English are pronounced differently. That is all. 22:33, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Her Chest[edit]

Could anybody mention that her breasts are bigger than most watermelons? And that she was called a flat-chest at twelve? And the irony of that? 21:26, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

That would be for the most part, a completely useless entry. It is mentioned that she has large breasts despite being called "Flat Chested Tsunade" by Jiraiya.--TheUltimate3 21:33, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

Tsunade's last name[edit]

No, because we don't know is it's her last name as well. The Shodai could have been her maternal grandfather, or the Senju clan could have ceased to exist at all. We should wait until Tsunade herself is called a Senju, before adding the name.--JadziaLover (talk) 04:50, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
