Multiple inconsistent mass statements
[edit]This article states that UGC 12591 is the 2nd most massive spiral galaxy known, at 1.9e12 solar masses, after ISOHDFS 27. However, our article on ISOHDFS 27 states that its mass is 1.04e12 solar.
Moreover, both articles state that their respective galaxies have ~ 4x the Milky Way's mass, and they link to that page -- which says that its mass is 0.8-1.5e12 solar.
So:
- 1.9e12 is less than 4 times even the lowest mass estimate for the MW.
- It's not smaller than the mass of ISOHDFS 27.
FWIW, it's possible that the page for ISOHDFS 27 has a typo for the mass (it cites no articles to validate any mass estimate); that could resolve inconsistency #2 here. However, UGC 12591's own mass on the current page is still quite inconsistent with the factor-of-4 for the MW's mass estimates that we cite. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jmacwiki (talk • contribs) 20:13, 2 December 2019 (UTC)
